Struggling To Enter Gods Rest

Today I struggled to comfort my toddler. His emotions were running wild. He was hurting and tired. I knew that what he needed was for me to hold him, so I picked him up off the floor with gentle strength - I held him tightly because I knew what he needed was comfort and rest- as he struggled against me and tried to get out of my loving arms - I kept thinking of how much I wanted to love on him- my plans were good for him- and In his struggle against me, I couldn’t stop loving him, he was so precious in my sight - he fought so hard to get out of my arms, but I won because I was stronger, and in love I was unwilling to let go- he finally fell asleep and I was able to comfort him. This is our story- when we are tired and we hurt so badly we often struggle against what god wants for us - we fight to get out of his loving arms trying to get away from him and his will in our distress- but we lose, because he is stronger than us and he loves us- when we eventually get tired of the struggle we finally enter into his rest, taking comfort in his loving arms- Jesus yearned to comfort Israel and like a mother hen he wanted to cover his chicks 🐣- but Israel wouldn’t let him- despite their rebellion, God still pursues Israel with unfailing love asking us to pray for her. Yet because Israel refused to enter his rest they do not get to enjoy fellowship with Jesus, even though they are still pursued- We don’t have to feel condemned if we are struggling against Gods will for us, because we know that he is filled with unfailing love, and can change our heart- but we should also be careful to enter his rest - not through condemnation but because we yearn to have sweet fellowship with Him - “God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. So God set another time for entering his rest, and that time is today. God announced this through David much later in the words already quoted: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts.”” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:1, 7‬ ‭NLT‬‬ We can rest in Jesus...Not by might or by power should we approach life, but by His spirit says the Lord- putting him first, so that all that is unprofitable and temporary can fall by the wayside- We don't have to hold everything up in our strength - we can hide in Him - allowing him to choose what really needs our attention in our day; so that THEN when we approach our god given responsibilities we do so in proper order, having put on his strength and his perspective---
